Plan for a Safer Oakland is a part of a Bay Area wide effort to stop the introduction of a gang injunction in North Oakland.

Community members are linking forces with social justice organizations and activists to stop the expansion of policing in Oakland and to advocate for community-based solutions to violence, including more access to resources such as housing, jobs, education, and community spaces.

On Saturday May 8th, CR members helped to organize a community town hall to highlight alternatives to the gang injunctions. Over 60 community members participated in discussions about the reality of violence in Oakland and how to create safety without bringing in police forces and continuing the cycle of violence.
