World Premiere: Re-Visions of Abolition Screening & Advancing the Defund Struggle in Austin

After years of grassroots organizing, organizers in Austin, Texas successfully pressured Austin City Council to defund over $120 million from policing in August 2020, one of the largest percentage cuts to local policing across the US. The Texas legislature is trying to stop this win from advancing by passing laws to prohibit police defunding.

To push forward and build wider support, Austin organizations including Communities of Color United, ICE out of Austin, Grassroots Leadership and Texas Harm Reduction Alliance are hosting the world premiere of Re-Visions of Abolition: from Critical Resistance to a New Way of Life, a film by Setsu Shigematsu on Friday, June 25.

If in or around Austin, join us for an in-person film screening and celebration, or if located elsewhere, join the party virtually. Support the ongoing struggle to defund policing and re-imagine public safety!
