CRNYC Relaunch: Distro Party for The Abolitionist Newspaper & Art Build for #DignityNotDetention

Join Critical Resistance New York City (CRNYC) this Saturday, October 15th from 1-3 p.m. EST for an outdoor launch event at Sheep Meadow in Central Park to share the latest issue of The Abolitionist (#37), Critical Resistance’s prisoner inside/outside newspaper dedicated to the strategy and struggle of prison industrial complex (PIC) abolition, with our movement partners and comrades in New York city.
Issue 37 of The Abolitionist explores the intersections of housing justice and PIC abolition through interviews with organizers from Right to the City Alliance and Brooklyn Eviction Defense, as well as pieces focused on practices of punishment and social control used in the housing system within the US and abroad.
At this event, we will have speakers, snacks, drinks, copies of the newspaper, and other CR materials, as well as poster paper and banners to do an art-build for our current #DignityNotDetention campaign, which is part of our efforts to abolish ICE and end immigrant detention in New York state.
- COVID-19 Safety: We ask everyone wears a mask unless eating or drinking, and we will provide masks (KN5s, N95s, and surgical) and COVID-19 rapid antigen tests on site.
- Location & Access Accommodations: More information on how to get to Sheep Meadow, public restroom options, and a form to request more access accommodations are on the Eventbrite page for the event here.
