In-person prisoner mail days are back for CR Oakland!
Join us every third Sunday, monthly!
Since the early 2000’s Critical Resistance Oakland (CR Oakland) has been corresponding with thousands of imprisoned loved ones and comrades in prisons, jails, and detention centers across the US (and some internationally!). CR Oakland’s Prisoner Mail Program is a great way to get connected with our Bay Area chapter, learn about CR’s work, analysis and politics, while supporting prisoners access political education resources and spreading prison industrial complex (PIC) abolition across walls and cages.
In-person mail days involve Bay Area volunteers coming together to help the chapter read through mail, sort letters, print resources, and write responses to prisoners’ inquiries. With music and snacks, it’s a great time to connect with CR, politic and deepen connections to grow the movement to abolish the PIC.
Location: In-Person Mail Days are hosted at the Freedom & Movement Center in Oakland (shout out to our comrades at All of Us or None!). Their large community room with a roll-up garage door for air ventilation allows for more folks to come through to print and assemble mail with us.
Same day and time each month: Third Sundays, 12:30-3pm!
Critical Resistance is practicing COVID-19 safety protocols at all events and gatherings. Please be sure to wear a mask. If going to our office, we have rapid tests available for people to take upon arrival. Space is limited at each prisoner mail day, so please be sure to RSVP!
