How do we organize against authoritarian rule and fascism in the US?

Critical Resistance (CR) is co-sponsoring Center for Political Education (CPE)’s first session of multi-part “Fighting Fascism” series to sharpen our shared understanding of how social movements in the US organize against fascist repression and violence. This whole series is intended to ground those newly activated by our current political crises in the history and theory of long-term working-class resistance to fascism, while providing more experienced organizers with a unifying frame for the fight across sectors of the left.

In our first session, we’ll take a look with Rachel Herzing & Robin DG Kelley at how criminalization is fundamental to the fascist program. We’ll examine how abolitionists have long understood the connection between punishment and fascism, and the frameworks they offer social movements resisting fascism.
