In July, over 100 Californians joined Building Power Across Walls To #CloseCAPrisons, a statewide online information session for the California prison closure campaign. We dug deep into why the Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB) coalition is fighting to close prisons, the strategy to close 10 by 2025, and the importance and power of organizing across prison walls. We also discussed how different sectors of organizing and other fights to shrink imprisonment intersect with prison closure.
Thank you to everyone who attended this session, uplifted their lived experiences and dreams of prison closure, and shared contacts and learnings with us to bolster our organizing.
