Critical Resistance (CR) is proud to hire CR Oakland volunteer member, Abby Bordin, as our new National Development Coordinator. Read the announcement below from Abby and welcome her onto the CR staff team!
Dear Comrades,
I am deeply honored to join Critical Resistance’s staff as the National Development Coordinator.
I began as a volunteer with CR’s mail program in 2020 and, with the incredible support of CR Oakland members and staff, transitioned into membership last year. My work within CR thus far has mostly been rooted in volunteer engagement, training, and communication with our imprisoned comrades. I am extremely grateful for these collaborations with the Oakland backend mail crew, CURB Campaign Inreach, Inside/Outside, and, more recently, Partnerships. I am grateful to every member of those groups, collaborating with you all has continually sharpened my politics and deepened my commitment to our shared struggle.
In addition to my involvement at CR, I have worked with a number of organizations oriented around the empowerment of criminalized folks and their loved ones. Among these are an educational arts program at a minimum security prison in Northeast Ohio and a restorative justice diversion program for youth arrested in the Bay Area. These experiences have molded me as a creative and accountable program coordinator, and I look forward to utilizing my organization, database management, and facilitation skills in this new role.
I am so excited to dig into fundraising as an organizing practice, to garner financial support for CR’s tireless efforts to dismantle the PIC, and to build with CR members across all chapters. I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the hiring and personnel committees and CR’s Infrastructure & Development team for their support so far. To the larger CR community, I can’t wait to connect with you all and continue to build towards an abolitionist future!
In community,
-Abby Bordin
