Join Critical Resistance in North Oakland on April 29 for Freedom Fridays: Community Kick-Back!
We’ll be holding space in the back lot at 4400 Telegraph Ave from 4-7pm to welcome in a new chapter of growth and connection!
This month we’ll be launching our new window exhibit on the Telegraph Ave side of our Building People Power building at 4400 Telegraph, featuring many local faces, artists, and Critical Resistance partners. We want to connect with you, our neighbors, partners and the larger Bay Area community to build together and share back the upcoming vision for the space, Building People Power.
As always, there will be good music by DJ @hellabreezy from Chulita Vinyl Club, warm drinks from Hasta Muerte Cafe and great conversations!
We’ll be taking time to give a more comprehensive update of the future plans for the building, answer questions you might have and update folks on current campaigns and how best to join efforts.
Freedom Fridays is a monthly socially-distanced community event series at 4400 Telegraph Ave (in the back lot on 44th) where we put prison industrial complex (PIC) abolition into practice through organizing and community engagement. The events are an opportunity to bridge the organizing work of movement partners and Critical Resistance to the Oakland community, specifically the North Oakland neighborhood, and to people inside prisons. We are fighting to increase urgent anti-prison organizing in this time, create and strengthen our movement space, and fight with and for people on the inside and build our collective people power. Come join us each month!
Critical Resistance started Freedom Fridays in December 2020. Read more about the first year of Freedom Fridays, including a summary of each monthly event for 2021, here.
