As the election fast approaches and the fight to defund the police continues, it is important to anchor our work within the fight to abolish the PIC as a whole. Our loved ones who are imprisoned have received some relief from the ravages of COVID-19 because of our fights to #FreeThemAll. However, there is still much more to do.
In 2019, Critical Resistance launched a national political education project called the Abolitionist Training School (ATS). We strategically partnered with different movement organizations to strengthen and develop shared organizing skills, analysis and tools for prison industrial complex (PIC) abolition. Through these partnerships, ATS has now grown to become a larger network of abolitionist organizations and movement partners, now called the AbolitionNOW network.
On Thursday, October 15, the AbolitionNOW network presents its 2nd webinar engaging the current moment. Please come through and join us!
In the webinar, Straight out of Confinement: #DefundPolice, #FreeThemAll and the fight for Abolition, a panel of experts will connect the dots between imprisonment and jail expansion in the movement to defund policing and how all of these pieces tie into the larger movement towards abolition.
