ABOUT THE INSIDE OUTSIDE: DANCING THROUGH PRISON WALLS SHOW

During the autumn of 2017, longtime activist choreographer Suchi Branfman hosted dance choreographers and visual artists to share their work and creative process with imprisoned men at California Rehabilitation Center, a medium-security state men’s prison in Norco, California. Over the course of eight weeks, the men inside learned and performed with visting artists Alex Almaraz, Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo, Jay Carlon, d. Sabela Grimes and Tom Tsai. These collaborative processes developed into a critical dialogue about freedom, confinement and how we survive restriction, limitations and denial of power.

INSIDE OUTSIDE brings these classes and the work from inside the prison back into LA for a night of performance and resistance. We invite you to join us to celebrate the power and human dignity that prison walls cannot contain. Together, we build for a world beyond imprisonment! Read more about the show here.
