JoJo Ejonga, Stafford Creek Correctional Center, WA

Over the past 25 years, it is incredible to see the level of impact the abolitionist movement has been able to accomplish across the United States. We have seen how abolitionist values, principles, and our people power have pressured decision makers to divert funding from police departments, and closing state prison facilities.

With that being said, we can’t allow ourselves to become complacent or idle, because there is more work to do and our collective freedom is on the line. The fight to dismantle and ultimately abolish the prison industrial complex (PIC) will continue for a long time ahead of us. We must continue to provide solutions and lead the way to addressing harm and healing our communities while generating the political strategies to get us all free.
