Miklat Miklat is an ongoing project about the concept of the City of Refuge (or Ir Miklat), scapegoating, and transformative justice. It includes an art installation with many iterations of paintings and sculptures and a zine (available for download below) created by Lewis Wallace & Micah Bazant.

Miklat Miklat Art Installation

A centerpiece of the project is a large goat made out of wire, mud, paper and hair – people are encouraged to write down a transgression on a slip of paper and insert it into the deep plush anal cavity of the scapegoat, and then to withdraw a question about transformative justice from the mouth of the goat. Through this reverse digestive process the project explores questions about sanctuary, transgression, and healing. For more information on the project, visit Micah Bazant’s website here.
